Kettering Phoenix Singers
Registered charity, No. 285538
Our Director of Music is Jonathan Ellson.

Educated in Kettering, at Bishop Stopford School and then at Tresham Institute, he is a 2004 graduate of Coventry University in Music Composition and Professional Practice. He works locally as a freelance music teacher, and undertakes musical direction not just for Kettering Choral Society, but for several other local amateur groups, principally those involved in the thriving amateur dramatics scene in north-east Northamptonshire.

As a composer, his music has been performed by the Chroma Ensemble (Birmingham) and Voces Capituli (Antwep, Belgium).

His musical interests encompass a wide variety of music, from the early music of the Notre Dame School of the 12th to 13th century, right through to more recent compositions. Choral music has always been of particular interest, and he aims to bring a wider variety of music to the members of the society, and its audiences in the coming years. He has a particular interst in contemporary British choral music, and through his fun-filled rehearsals with the choral society, hopes to be able to impart some of this interest to it.
